Get ready to fall in love with February's tee 'Heartwood', by our favorite husband and wife duo, Foxwood Co.

Casey and Amy started their woodworking business two months after their son Fox was born in 2014. They both graduated from art schools in Maryland and "...wanted to start a family business where we could be around each other much more, while using our artistic talents at the same time. Casey works in the wood shop full-time creating art and handmade wooden objects. Amy helps with the ideas, designs, and business tasks (as well as chasing after little Fox!)"

Where did the idea for their shirt come from? "There is a long story within a tree’s rings, often spanning generations, maybe even centuries. We are grateful that this is our artistic medium, and that it has experienced so much before we even begin to touch it with our own hands. We wanted to reference these tree rings in our drawing, and also hint toward a broader theme of love. We knew that our design would be for February, so we chose a heart not only as a nod to Valentine’s Day, but also because it’s the same month in which our son was born (who is truly at the heart of what we do!). We called this design “Heartwood”, as that’s what the oldest and most central section of the wood is actually named."

In conjunction with each month’s tee we also email a digital download for you to print out and work on with your little one. It includes a full-page reproduction of the month's design AND extension activities based around the image and art style.
